racoon III

racoon III is a framework for time-dependant mesh-adaptive computations on structured grids, developed mainly by  Jürgen Dreher and with contributions from the other members of the institute. It is mainly used for compressible Euler and MHD simulations. An implementation for incompressible flows is under construction. racoon III is build with special care for massive parallel machines like JUGENE at the Jülich Supercomputer Centre. Scaling for a compressible MHD turbulence simulation is linear up to 131072 cores as shown in the figure below.
